“DRY LAND” La Cuchara

The Following Chart catalogs the paintings included at my show “Dry Land”, hanging at La Cuchara. 3600 Clipper Mill Rd St 125 Baltimore, MD 21211.

This body of work uses light, moisture, and color to describe natural forms. Flowers and water, in the form of dew or pools, discuss attraction. In some works they stand in contrast to dry land or withering forms, as a reflection of the temporal nature of beautiful things. I think of the relationship between bounty and barren, in regards to the metaphors it holds for love and anxieties for the current state of our climate.

My work functions within a personal mythology, emphasizing symbolism and metaphor: Shells, fruit, trees, flowers and their pollinator counterparts. In some works I visit the characters of Narcissus, Venus, and Eve. In other works I explore the inherent poetry of my environment.
